Emiliano Zapata worked and fought for peasant land rights in Morelos, Mexico from 1910, when he was appointed President of Anenecuilco Village Council, until 1919, when he was tricked into attending his own assassination under the guise of a diplomatic meeting with Jesús Guajardo. Zapata was 39 years old when he was ‘riddled with bullets’ by Guajardo’s men.
